About Cheer Up for Vets

Our Mission

To show gratitude and honor veterans, with a focus on senior veterans, with visits, check ins, phone calls, cards, care packages, referrals to services, and similar efforts to remember and thank them for their service.

Debra Marshall, President

I was born and raised in the great state of Texas and I am the proud daughter of a Vietnam Combat Veteran who served as a door gunner, like many veterans, my Dad never speaks of his time in service so I didn’t understand what it meant to be the “Man at the Door” until I was an adult. My passion to serve Veterans and those who serve country and community is my way of honoring my Dad for his service including many of his friends that never made it home.  With a long family history of service to our country, I consider it an honor and privilege to remember the sacrifices of all those who gave their lives in defense of our nation and its liberties.

Kristen Wilson, Vice President & Website Manager

Kristen has the same passion for veterans as she was born, raised and married into a military family, grandfather, uncle and of course her father (Major Brooks Wilson, USMC Ret). She had married into Marines, two children at the Camp Pendleton Navy hospital, worked on a base and moved a few times due to prior military spouse. She now resides in Houston Texas area.

She is a website developer by day (her own business A Visual Business) and built the Cheer Up for Vets site before it was a non-profit and pushed Debra to get it to non-profit status. She also is a firearms instructor (her other business WTF Kristen) and competition shooter by night and weekend. She has a passion for helping to empower women in their shooting journey and be safer for themselves and their families.

You can usually find Kristen behind a computer, training a student about shooting safety & situational awareness, at the range or doing something Patriotic in her community.

Carla Wahl, Secretary

Serving on the board as Secretary, Carla Wahl—owner of MC Master Construction—brings both leadership and a personal connection to the mission. With several family members who have served, including her brother, nephew, and cousins, Carla’s dedication to veterans runs deep.

Rooted in gratitude and guided by service, my hope is to create meaningful impact in the lives of veterans and their families. Through outreach, resources, and community support, I will work to ensure that those who served are never forgotten and always supported.

Together, we stand for those who stood for us.

Get Involved. Get in Touch.
